Which retail brand do you most admire? And why?

From a luxury brand perspective I am really loving Anthropologie, J.Crew and Kate Spade. But I also always have my eye on ASOS as they’ve captured the eCommerce market incredibly well, have no stores and yet have grown the business hugely in such a short space of time.

What is the biggest opportunity for retail brands? And why?

Mobile and tablets, focusing on how mobile communications can engage consumers online and in store and being able to understand how bricks and mortar stores fit in with this new multi-channel market.

What is the one piece of advice you'd share with your retailer peers?

There are two things: data insight and testing. You need to understand fully what your customer data is telling you and test everything, including your emails, design, imagery and merchandising – test all that you do, because the results are not always predictable.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

Winning the lottery!

What one app can you not live without?

My Tube map app and Spotify – I use them every day.
