AWS: Innovating at Scale

Dublin

Dinner

September 14, 2022

Summary

How do you bake innovation into your organisational DNA?

Innovating at scale has often been treated as a sporadic activity to fit in when possible around the normal business demands. Yet coming out of COVID-19, many organisations have proven that, when bureaucratic processes are relaxed, true innovation is achievable for sustained periods of time across the entire business.

The AWS ExecLeaders community has touched upon this subject previously, talking about innovation as something to be fitted in around “Business as Usual”. But how should we talk about the relationship between continuous refinements to the existing business models and innovation? What are the differences, if any? Equally, where does innovation sit within the increasingly common transformation programmes?

One thing is certain - there is a need for greater speed; a more agile operating model. Our theme and discussion point for our next gathering is the idea of “institutional innovation” and how to build this muscle for ongoing business growth.

Over the evening our groups will talk about:

  • Understanding threats and turning them into opportunities
  • Reinventing the value proposition to include a more agile approach to new ideas
  • Looking at different processes or business models as a new way of creating differentiation
