Summary

The Product Transformation Dinner

Large consumer-facing organisations need to move faster. Business agility and organisations of scale have struggled for many years to achieve a velocity of change, but in a post-pandemic world many are striving to continue the pace of transformation achieved into this new landscape.

Digital product teams are critical to businesses of size and complexity being able to move fast. Once the managers of the backlog, product owners are now the gatekeepers of speed, prioritising workloads against a business strategy that itself is iterating.

For our dinner on 20th October in London we were joined by Scott Fraser of Screwfix who is vastly experienced in helping achieve a velocity of change, along with a group of peers discussing this challenge.

Over dinner we discussed:

  • Digital Product - What it means and how its influence is made
  • Product’s place in the business - servant or leader?
  • Speed - How get keep it once you have it

Digital Product Management Director

Screwfix

Scott has over 20 years experience building digital products, although not always recognisable as products – remember when they used to be projects? Having spent time across numerous big businesses in Retail, Financial Services, Telecommunications and Hospitality, Scott loves the challenge of delivering digital transformation and then evolving and building ongoing feature teams to leverage the commercial and customer value. When not at work you’ll find me on the bike, on the rowing machine or, more likely, playing taxi to my boys.
